Home at Last

After our Vegas stint, I returned home, extremely sick. Had to leave again on Thrs. for a trip to Miami to celebrate my friend's 50th birthday. 2 days before leaving, I am sick and running a 101 degree temperature. Of course, I couldn't get in to see a doctor, so once in Miami, managed to find an Urgent Care Center to take me. After chest xrays, I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and bronchitis. I got the meds I needed and in two days was feeling much better. I was able to enjoy the birthday party. We arrived back in PR on Monday night and after taking a few days to unpack, get the house sort of together, I am back in my studio working. I have to finish a piece by tomorrow for a Monday hanging at the museum in Bayamon. Here is my progress so far...

After a long day of travel, since 5 a.m., we finally made our destination. VEGAS!!! We are here at the Venetian until Sunday. We laid over in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Have a planned dinner at 8 and then off to the Hoover Dam tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's Day to all.

A bit of Studio Time

Took a break from menial computer stuff and preparing for shows to get in some actual studio work time. I feel that my priorities are a bit mixed up lately. The things that I should be putting off is the menial prep stuff and my painting is what needs to take first priority. It seems like ages since I have gotten any real work done.

I headed into the studio and began reworking one of my pieces that I had not been really pleased with. I think I made a bit of head way on it today.

Feeling Better and Looking Ahead

After 3 days of being completely knocked down by this cold, I am feeling better. Yesterday I ran a few overdue errands and today am playing catchup on everything that got put off by being sick. Lots to do before my trek to Vegas next week.

I need to update the EEAG website, prepare for Friday's board meeting, finish my painting for our show in Mar, begin my self portrait for the Women's show in Apr. and finalize details for the EEAG fund raising event on the 23rd of Feb. Let's not forget grocery shopping and housecleaning, there is no food and the house is a disaster. Wow, this didn't seem so bad in the crevasses of my mind. Once I see it all written out, I am beginning to feel a bit panicky. Guess I better get busy!!!

Afternotes

Guess all the stress and excitement of putting this show together has caught up with me. Woke up yesterday with a nasty cold. Feeling horrible today. Taking another day to rest.

Juried Exhibition

It is coming down to the wire. I have spent the whole week hanging, labeling and adjusting lights for the show opening tomorrow evening. Wed. another artist and myself were interviewed regarding the exhibition by our only English speaking radio station, WOSO in Puerto Rico. The press releases have been sent, the catalogs will be picked up today and the banner will be hung. Today will be spent doing last minute adjustments and finalizing the small details. I managed to fit a haircut into my schedule yesterday. All the work that goes into an exhibition is like a wedding, and in a few hrs. tomorrow evening, it will all be over. Sunday I am planning on some long overdue downtime. I don't think I will even turn my phone on or get out of my PJ's.
